Afterschool As Mission (Wednesday, October 07, 2026)

Wed, 07 Oct 2026 14:00:00 GMT

Afterschool As Mission is a preconference event designed to equip Christian leaders, educators, and ministry workers to see afterschool programming not just as a service — but as a profound opportunity for mission. Through teaching, real-world stories, and collaborative discussion, attendees will leave with a renewed vision and practical tools for how afterschool ministry can become a catalyst for transformation, discipleship, and community impact in under-resourced neighborhoods.

This event is led by Edward Franklin, a practitioner with over 21 years of experience leading Christian afterschool and summer programs. Whether you are a church leader exploring community engagement or a ministry worker already in the field, Edward brings the theological grounding and practical wisdom to help you move from awareness to action — informed by both decades of on-the-ground experience and graduate work completing a Doctor of Ministry in Ministry Leadership and a Doctor of Education in Out-of-School Time Learning.

Lunch will be provided for participants in this preconference event.

Lunch menu: SOUTHERN CHARMER Fried Chicken and Smoked Brisket with Coleslaw & Mini Potato Rolls, Homestyle BBQ Sauce, Mac & Cheese, String Beans, Corn Bread, Garden Salad, & Southern-Style dessert

Dr. John M. Perkins Legacy Luncheon (Friday, October 09, 2026)

Fri, 09 Oct 2026 15:30:00 GMT

Join us for the final stop of the Dr. John M. Perkins Memorial Celebration Tour, presented in partnership with the John and Vera Mae Perkins Foundation. Together, we will honor Dr. Perkins’s life, faith, and impact, hear stories that shaped his ministry, and connect generations of Christian Community Development practitioners.

This luncheon is more than a remembrance. It is an invitation to continue the work Dr. Perkins faithfully advanced. Rooted in love for God and neighbor, we will celebrate a legacy that calls us to resist injustice, build beloved community, develop local leaders, and pursue reconciliation.

Together, we will reflect on what this legacy requires of us and renew our commitment to faithful Christian Community Development in our churches, neighborhoods, and communities.
